They say Mount Fuji plays hard to get, but really, she’s just waiting for those who believe in her magic, that’s why she’s so hard to see.

SONDER (n.)

That sudden, delicious jolt when you realize every stranger you pass has a story as rich and wild as your own — and Japan is full of them.

At Sonder, we don’t just travel; We sonder. We dive deep into the hidden tales, the quiet moments, the whispered secrets of Japan. Because the real journey isn’t about ticking boxes; it’s about living the story you didn’t know you needed.

Sonder isn’t a trip. It’s an invitation to feel Japan, one unforgettable story at a time.

Curated Japan for the quietly curious.

What if travel felt like fiction, and Japan was the plot?

Because Japan doesn’t shout. It lingers. In the way a geisha glides past. In the last slurp of ramen at 2 AM. In temples that smell like old wood and memory. Most tours rush through it. We slow down. Translate the silences. And build moments for India’s quirkiest, most curious travellers.

Whether it’s sipping sake in an izakaya, gold-fixing your soul with kintsugi, or chasing sakura timed to your stars  every Sonder trip is a postcard, a plot twist, a love letter.

Four journeys a year. Ten days. Every detail taken care of, delivering a premium experience tailored just for you.

Come Sonder with us.

Founder, Right Brain at Sonder

Filmmaker, author, and slow-travel romantic, Niranjana tells stories across mediums from indie films to essays that smell faintly of old bookshops.A lifelong Japan-dreamer and certified Nihongo-phile, she started Sonder as a way to bottle the quiet wonder of Japanese travel for those who seek stories, not itineraries.

When she’s not directing or writing, she’s probably scribbling notes in a Kyoto kissaten or sipping umeshu in a tiny bar no tourist ever finds. Sonder is her love letter to Japan and the people who like their travels a little offbeat, a little soulful, and a little cinematic.

Vikram Ramarajan

Co founder, Left Brain at Sonder

Technology professional by day, heritage trail whisperer by weekend, Vikram is the logistical spine of Sonder. A Khaki Tours ambassador and the kind of traveller who reads footnotes on plaques, he brings precision to the poetry.

If Niranjana dreams in verse, Vikram builds the map.

A travel nerd with a nose for the offbeat, Vikram has a knack for sniffing out the most unusual things in the most ordinary corners.

He’s a master of itineraries, known to uncover forgotten bookshops, oddball museums, and that one ramen place locals won’t tell you about. For Vikram, Sonder is where calendars meet curiosity. It is where romance meets rigour. Opposite in instinct, aligned in direction.
